FAIR DEDICATION

THE 2025 HEBRON HARVEST FAIR IS DEDICATED TO

Lion Betty J. Hills Dove

Lion Betty served the Lions Club and actively supported the Lions mission since 1989. She was only the 2nd woman to be admitted to the Hebron Lions Club, following Bernice Barrasso. Lion Betty proudly received her 35 year pin splitting her time between Hebron and Punta Gorda, Florida. Her devotion was richly valued by the club, until her retiremnet from membership due to her health. Lion Betty was known among the members as someone who would “take care of business”. She passed away July 28th of this year.

Betty loved the Hebron Harvest Fair and all it meant to the community. She spent most of her time at the fairgrounds, 6am to 6pm most days (longer on meeting nights). She was the person who ordered and planted all of the chrysanthemums and worked tirelessly to beautify the gardens around the property. She was also in charge of the trophies and ribbons distributed to those who showed their livestock and entered competitions. She and Lion Don Dion worked together in the horse ring back in the day.

Betty’s “baby” was the Antique Farm Display. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her knowledge of the farm tools and machines, displaying them originally spread out on blankets in the area where the parking lot is now, then in tents, setting everything up by herself, moving large motors and equipment. Eventually, the display got its own building. Betty is the only woman who has served as fair superintendent, serving in that role in 1998 and 1999. She also served as Club President twice.

Betty modeled Lionism in her family, several of them are Lions as well. Lion Norman (Chip) Dove, Betty’s son, Lion Carol Dove, Betty’s daughter-in-law, Lion Cassandra Dove Sandberg, Betty’s graddaughter, Lion Joe Sandberg, Betty’s grandson-in-law, Steven Rochette Betty’s grandson, Lion Ed Hodge Sr, Betty’s nephew and Lion Ed Hodge her great nephew. Lion Don Dion has been Betty’s partner for many years. The Hebron Lions Club members will miss Lion Betty. With gratitue for her decades of service, the Lions hereby dedicate the 2025 Hebron Harvest Fair to her memory.
